Browser Add-On

A regular browser extension would ask for permissions on every page you visit and would need updating with each browser release. The y2mate.space add-on is a bookmarklet instead: a tiny bookmark that reads the YouTube video you are watching and jumps straight to the converter with the link already filled in.

Same one-click result, zero permissions, and it works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

How to install it

  1. Make sure your bookmarks bar is visible (in most browsers: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + B, or enable it in the bookmarks menu).
  2. Open the bookmarklet page and drag the y2mate.space button onto the bookmarks bar.
  3. Done. Open any YouTube video and click the bookmark — the converter opens with that video loading.

If drag-and-drop does not work in your browser, the bookmarklet page also shows the code to create the bookmark manually.

What it can and cannot do

The bookmarklet never runs in the background: it only does something when you click it, and only on the tab you clicked it in. It reads nothing except the address of the video you are watching. Nothing is installed on your computer, and removing it means deleting one bookmark.
