y2mate.space is a free, browser-based YouTube downloader. Paste a video link, choose MP3 for audio or MP4 for video, and the file is saved straight to your device. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no payment wall — the converter works the same on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.

Everything happens in your own browser tab: no extensions, no apps from unknown sources. The only requirements are a modern browser and a YouTube link.

How to download a YouTube video

1. Open the YouTube video you want and copy its address from the browser bar — or tap Share in the YouTube app and choose Copy link.
2. Paste the link into the box above. Short youtu.be links, Shorts, live and embedded videos are all accepted (the FAQ lists every supported format).
3. Press MP3 to keep just the audio, or MP4 to keep the video. Conversion starts immediately.
4. Wait while the video is processed — longer videos take longer. As soon as the file is ready, the download starts on its own.

Which format should you pick?

MP3 gives you a compact audio file that plays in any music app — the right choice for songs, podcasts and lectures. MP4 keeps picture and sound together, with quality based on the source video. Both come from the same link, so if you want both, just run the tool twice.
